What types of dentures are offered?

There are two main types of dentures: complete and partial. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Complete dentures

Complete dentures can be either “conventional” or “immediate.” Conventional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal. They are ready for placement in the mouth about eight to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed.
Immediate dentures, on the other hand, are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. This means that the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time, especially during the healing period following tooth removal. Therefore, immediate dentures require more adjustments to fit properly during the healing process and generally should only be considered a temporary solution until conventional dentures can be made.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures consist of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which is sometimes connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth. Not only do partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, but they also prevent other teeth from changing position.
Removable partial dentures include cast metal partial denture, flexible partial denture, and acrylic partial denture (flipper tooth). Cast metal partial dentures are the most common type of removable partial dentures. They consist of a gum-colored acrylic base with an underlying metal framework and false teeth. Flexible partial dentures are made of a flexible plastic material and are typically a temporary solution for missing teeth. Acrylic partial denture, also called a flipper tooth, is another temporary option.

Repair and reline

A denture reline involves adding material to the inside of your dentures. This helps the denture adapt to your mouth better as your jaw bone and gum tissue change in order to achieve better fit and more rentention.
We also offer service to repair your existing dentures in-house or by sending them out to a local laboratory.
